David, but I do have the experience. I’m not talking from theory, but from direct observation.
I have a recommendation for you. Go to Reno or Tahoe for the weekend. On Sunday morning, go the Catholic Church at the summit for morning mass. Interact with the families living in their cars in the church parking lot, hoping for handouts from the churchgoers, so that they afford to put enough gas in their cars to get them back to whatever homes they have left. Ask them what happened to their money. Then look into the unwashed faces of the wives and children. Then let me know how you feel about that.
